This John Dickson Carr script is intended to be somewhat humorous and lighthearted. The story has a British detective story writer (being mistaken for a doctor) and his secretary getting stuck in the kidnapping of a government official orchestrated by some American tough guys. (Could Carr be imagining himself in the role of the writer?)
The reviewer at oldtimeradioreview.com considers the story and the dialogue to be very dated. Be prepared for some of the jokes and comments to fall flat.
The script was also used in the BBC Appointment with Fear series 1943-10-07.
