Jack Carson stars in an Allan Botzer script about a man who has undergone psychiatric treatment for the betterment of his marriage. There’s a problem: he believes that his wife and the therapist are having an affair. He makes surprise visit to the psychiatrist to confront him, challenging him to admit the romantic attachment, then telling him that he has killed his wife. The psychiatrist knows he’s not telling the truth, and that’s part of an elaborate trap developed by the husband to poison both of them. The story is somewhat like Headshrinker, which is a more cerebral production that explores morality without criminality and is somewhat open-ended. This production is a more of a typical Suspense or mystery series story about a love triangle and the actions of a wronged party to deal with it, with a twist ending that brings it to a conclusion.
The program was recorded on Wednesday, June 10, 1959. Rehearsal began at 2:00pm, followed by recording at 5:30pm, and ending at 6:00pm. Production edits were made from 6:00 to 8:00pm, with music added in the days before broadcast.
The surviving recording is an edited Armed Forces Radio Service (AFRS) aircheck. The recording has narrow range and some other issues, but is listenable.
